Paint African Wildlife in Kenya with Hazel Soan
Capture the essence of the African bush and a Kenyan safari. Paint the ‘Big Five’ and other wildlife, the great Rift Valley, the Aberdares, Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha.
Africa is romantic and the lure to paint its wildlife has drawn many artists to set up home here including Hazel Soan. The Kenyan bush epitomises wild Africa and combined with the talents and tuition from Hazel Soan this is the ultimate wildlife painting holiday. We have designed it to offer you the best opportunities for painting hippo, monkey, rhino, giraffe, zebra, elephant, chimpanzee and possibly lion and leopard in their natural habitat.
Every day will be spent painting in Kenya’s National Parks and Reserves with only the last evening being spent in Nairobi. Commencing with a gentle introduction to Africa from the comforts of modern lodge on the shores of Lake Naivasha, where you will be able to paint the lake as well as the wildlife in Hell’s Gate National Park and Crescent Island Game Sanctuary. The lack of predators’ means you have the rare opportunity to walk and work in the bush, amongst zebra, antelope and giraffe in both Hell’s Gate and on Crescent Island. You’ll be able to paint the iridescent flamingos on Lake Nakuru as you travel to the Laikipia Plateau. You’ll be based in Ol Pejeta Game Reserve and staying in a tented safari camp that overlooks a waterhole where you can paint the wildlife at leisure. As well as game drives to see the ‘big five’ there is a chimpanzee sanctuary here. Finally and in contrast you’ll stay in a fabulous luxury tree lodge in the Aberdares National Park, where you can paint the forest and mountains as well as elephants, monkeys and prolific birdlife on game drives and when they come to the lodge’s salt-lick and waterhole. You can work from various verandas and walkways as well as a ground-level hide. On game drives you can sketch or take photographs from the safari vehicles to later work on back in the camp or at home.
